Personalized Boudoir Photo Session | Orlando, FL
The human experience is unique in the way each individual has their own passions, characteristics, things they love, views of the world, likes and dislikes, etc. While we can all connect and relate to certains aspects of life, no two people are exactly the same. Which is why when I work with clients, my job is to learn about what makes them, well “them,” and how to capture that within a photograph. The process is the extra step I take to ensure the end results are personalized to each individual and each image is unique. No matter the genre of photography we’re working on, sessions are centered around the subject and it is they who shine through.
I did a boudoir session with a client that was in the process of publishing a book and becoming a published writer, so naturally the set included books to showcase her love for writing. The tone, however, was a bit more elaborate on who she was personality wise as well. I made sure to pose the client with different staging and props to also capture her free spirit and femininity. For one of the photos I placed a stack of books on the floor and had my client hold one of the books with one hand as she read it while facing away from the camera. The other hand held a glass of wine to give the sense of being in one's comfortable space doing everyday things. She stood tall and her shoulders were pulled back to represent her confidence and strong personality. I asked her to step on her tippy toes to naturally arch the back and add movement to the image. The end result looked very natural and unposed, as if the image was taken from a day in her life instead of posing at a studio. This personalized approach has received great feedback as the pictures are unique and don’t feel generalized.
It’s always important for me to have a variety of different staging / posing during my sessions while keeping the overall theme so things are arranged accordingly. I added a chair to the set and had my client sitting this time while reading from one of the books. This time she posed more angled towards the camera and the book was at chest level. Her face was more visible this time and her expression was kept soft to give the image a more romantic feel. Though we were doing a boudoir shoot, the goal was to capture the client in a more romantic light to go with her writing, which means that expressions are key to achieving the desired look. Knowing and understanding what my clients hope to accomplish during the shoot beforehand is a very important process that really matters when it is time to take the pictures. Because as a photographer I know what to look for, adjust, and guide to get them the results they want. For anyone that is interested in scheduling a shoot and having their personality and ideals shine through, reach out to me and we can plan a time to discuss and bring your goals to life!
