Boudoir Photo Shoot in Paris
Doing boudoir shoots are one of my favorite types of photo shoots. I understand how hectic the days can get and how disconnected one can feel from their body. The stress builds up and can make you lose sight of the feeling of just feeling good. Boudoir is a fun and exciting way that allows you to forget about the world and focus on yourself. It pushes some people to go outside their comfort zones and indulge in a rewarding shoot where the only outcome is ensuring you feel beautiful.
This particular shoot took place in Paris at an Airbnb called Marie Antoinette Style Suite. My goal was to achieve stunning boudoir images, which were inspired by fashion magazines featuring designer’s lingerie. I needed to mix elegant, classy, and sexy all together. This Airbnb was perfect with the exquisite layout and the tasteful furniture. The final piece to this shoot was my model.
Valeria is originally from Ukraine and is currently working in high-end commercial projects. The way Valerie holds herself with great ease was perfect for this shoot. I wanted to use every single corner and bit of furniture. So, before the session, I created a flow of where and how I was going to pose Valerie. She was incredibly flexible and open to ideas which made working with her a wonderful experience!
This shoot was successful due to the essential products of Elinchrom that I utilized. At the beginning of the session I used natural light to create some beautiful semi silhouette images by the window. For the rest of the shoot, I was using my Elinchrom lighting: battery pack ELB400, HS Quadra flash head, and a small Snaplux Octabox with one outer diffuser to create some beautiful light on my subject.
I use Elinchrom’s Rotolux and Litemotive Softboxes in my studio and found it very comfortable to travel with Snaplux Softboxes. They are easy to compact and are quick to open and collapse so I don’t have to spend time setting them up. This was my first time traveling with Snaplux Ocabox and I was absolutely pleased with the quality of my light. It was a simple 1-light setup to create some shadows and highlights on Valeria, which beautifully shaped her body and added dimension to the photo shoot.
Overall, this shoot was fun for both Valerie and myself. As a photographer, it is amazing when you get to see people embrace themselves. Boudoir gives people the chance to show off their curves and see the beauty of their body. This gorgeous boudoir shoot was a complete success and leaves me looking forward to my next one!
