Kaitlin and Joshua's wedding at Maitland Museum of Art | Orlando, Florida
This summer, on a perfect June day, the love between Kaitlin and Joshua was celebrated with an emotional wedding ceremony. I was excited that they trusted me to capture with images the story of their love and the laughs, smiles, and tears to be had that day as they moved into a new chapter of their lives.
Kaitlin and Joshua met in high school after Joshua had recently moved from Ft. Lauderdale to Ocala, Florida. Kaitlin quickly noticed him, since he was the new kid at school but they didn’t talk till they were eventually introduced through a mutual friend. They began a friendship that continued throughout the years and stayed strong even after they graduated. Kaitlin ended up moving to Pennsylvania and Joshua moved to Orlando to continue his education, but throughout all of this they kept in touch. At the time, he regretted not having ever asked her out and felt like the chance with Kailin had been missed. But as fate sometimes works to bring two people together, he later discovered that she had moved back to Florida and just knew that he had to see her.
Finally, they saw each other again for a coffee date and things quickly ignited. From not seeing each other for years, they were then seeing each other every weekend since she lived in Ocala and Joshua was still living in Orlando. Eventually, he mustered up the courage to ask her out on a real date and she said yes. After what Kaitlin would say was an eternity later, 7 years on their anniversary, Joshua finally proposed at Leu Gardens. Throughout those 7 years with each other they have been through ups and downs, pushing themselves to become better and achieving their goals. Their relationship is built on friendship and laughter, where (almost) every day is fun and exciting.
The couple explained that planning their wedding, as exciting as it was, proved to have its challenges. But when they toured the Maitland Art and History Museum, they fell in love with the idea of getting married by the pond. Between the stunning architecture and beautiful foliage of the museum, both of them could envision their most memorable day unfolding before their eyes. And just like they envisioned, their wedding ceremony was nothing short of enchanting. A slight rain came in the afternoon, which added to the romantic scenery of the ceremony. I was in tears by the end of the shoot as the family and friendships conveyed so much joy and love to the newlywed couple. It is emotionally beautiful stories and moments like these that make my job so rewarding.
