Cinematic wedding photography is one of the most popular and trending styles of wedding photography. However, not many photographers shoot cinematic style because of its complexity. Cinematic photos require an extended photography and creative skillset in lighting, fashion and posing, detailed vision on architectural elements and shapes, and editing. Because of the amount of skills, time, and creativity put in cinematic wedding photography sometimes it is referred as Fine-Art Wedding Photography.
The main three elements in cinematic photography are dramatic lighting, fashion-inspired poses, and creativity. I personally focused on the fashion posing element for years before I was confident with my posing skills. I believe posing or guiding a bride to pose changes the entire perspective of an image and will turn an image into a fashion style photo that you see in the cover of a vogue magazine.
There are only few award-winning cinematic photographers in the United States, which I, Yuliya Panchenko, is one of them. My most favorite cinematic, fashion, fine-art wedding photographers are Sal Cincotta and Michael Anthony.
